Genevieve Lemire

Running to represent Washington County, in District 10

About Genevieve

I’ve spent my life working to solve problems, serve my community, and help people build stable lives. After a 41-year career in the aerospace industry as a quality analyst, I retired and returned home to Maine, settling in Pembroke after years away. Along the way, I raised three children, became a grandmother of five, volunteered in schools and community organizations, and even served in the Peace Corps helping teach health and physical education abroad.

I’m running for the Maine House because too many families, seniors, and veterans are struggling with rising property taxes, housing costs, healthcare expenses, and the cost of everyday life. I know what it’s like to rely on community support during hard times, and I believe government should help people find practical solutions not make life harder with unnecessary bureaucracy.

Here in Washington County, I want to focus on making housing more affordable, helping seniors stay in their homes, supporting working families with childcare and healthcare access, and finding real ways to lower costs for our communities. I’ve spent my career bringing people together to solve problems, and that’s exactly how I’ll serve in Augusta.

What Matters Most

Making Augusta Work for You

Too many government programs are difficult to navigate for the people who need them most. I want to simplify programs, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and make sure small businesses, families, seniors, and veterans can actually access the help available to them. I also want you to know you have someone who will listen and fight for you when it matters most.

Food Security

No one in our communities should struggle to put food on the table. I want to support efforts that reduce food insecurity and make sure families, seniors, and children have reliable access to healthy food.

Healthcare Access

I know how important affordable healthcare is because I’ve experienced firsthand what community support and healthcare access can mean during difficult times. I want to improve access to affordable healthcare so people can get the care they need without financial hardship.

Lowering Property Taxes

Property taxes are making it harder for people to stay in their homes, especially seniors living on fixed incomes. I want to find solutions that ease the tax burden while still protecting the services our communities rely on.

Energy Costs

Heating oil and electricity costs are putting enormous pressure on Maine families. I want to explore practical ways to help people manage rising energy costs and make life more affordable.

Affordable Housing

I believe young families, seniors, and veterans deserve safe, affordable places to live in the communities they call home. Housing costs are pushing too many people out, and we need practical solutions that help communities grow and stay strong.

Supporting Seniors

Our seniors should be able to age with dignity and stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible. I want to support programs that help older Mainers remain independent instead of being forced into costly care facilities before they are ready.

Veterans

Our veterans deserve more than thanks — they deserve real support, including stable housing and access to services that help them succeed after their service. I want to work on practical solutions that make a difference in veterans’ everyday lives.

Childcare & Working Families

Communities cannot grow if young families cannot afford childcare. I want to help create affordable childcare solutions that support working parents and make it possible for the next generation to build a future here.

Education

We need strong schools and educational opportunities for our kids, but we also have to recognize the pressure education costs place on local property taxpayers. I believe we can support students without forcing communities to shoulder unsustainable tax burdens.
